4mozzarella cheese slicessliced in half
1egg

Preheat the air fryer to 360°F (182°C).
Prepare the breading ingredients. Put the bread crumbs into a flat container. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk an egg until it turns thin and runny. Then, set aside for assembly.
Trim the sides of the bread slices and flatten them with a rolling pin.
To assemble the pizza roll-ups, start by placing the flattened bread on a cutting board. Spread pizza sauce on top, and then add half a slice of cheese and two slices of pepperoni. Roll up the bread and repeat the process until all of the bread slices have been stuffed.
After rolling the bread slices, dip each pizza roll-up into the egg wash and coat it evenly with bread crumbs.
Air fry at 360°F (182°C) for 4-6 mins until slightly golden. Flip halfway.
Serve and enjoy your air fryer pizza roll ups with any pizza sauce on the side!

Notes
If your air fryer doesn't have a preheating option, you can set the temperature to 360°F (182°C) and then let it cook for 3-4 minutes.
To prevent the Mozzarella cheese from oozing out, place it at the center of the rolls. You can add more cheese if you want.
Add some grated pecorino romano cheese to the panko crumbs for an added layer of cheesy goodness.
Filling ideas: sliced onions (cooked or raw), black olives, ham, pineapple (controversial but delicious), prosciutto, sauteed eggplant, cooked sausage, sauteed mushrooms, cooked chicken pieces, cooked bacon, peppers- the list is truly endless!
Bread alternatives: Instead of white bread, you can substitute tortillas, Pillsbury Crescent Rolls or any Pillsbury dough, wheat bread, artisan bread, and keto bread - the options are literally endless.
Recipe variations: air fryer tortilla pizza roll ups, crescent roll pizza roll ups, pizza roll ups crescent rolls
If you are using a raw dough, like pizza dough or crescent rolls, you may want to avoid the panko step, so that the dough can brown and get crisp in the air fryer.
Instead of marinara, you could dip the rolls in any type of pasta sauce, like vodka sauce, Alfredo sauce, or pesto sauce.
For added flavor, add fresh basil leaves to the inside of your rolls. Basil is a classic pizza topping, and the freshness of this fabulous herb bursts through when added to these cheesy rolls!
I used a 6-quart Instant Pot Vortex Plus to test the air fryer pizza roll ups recipe. Cooking time and temperature may vary depending on your air fryer and the number of servings you are making. For optimal results, begin with the lower end of the suggested cooking time.
