Ingredients
4Portobello mushrooms
¼cuppizza sauce
¼cuppepperoni slices
¼cupmozzarella cheese
2tablespoonsbell pepper
Instructions
Clean the mushrooms by wiping them off with a damp paper towel; avoid running them under water as they easily absorb liquid. Remove the stems, and if desired, remove the mushroom gills as well.
Prepare the toppings: pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni slices, diced bell peppers and dried oregano.
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (204°C). See note if you have a 4-quart air fryer or smaller.
Put together the mushroom pizza. Add the pizza sauce on top of each mushroom cap. Sprinkle on the dried oregano and mozzarella cheese, then top them with sliced pepperoni and diced bell peppers.
Air fry Portobello mushroom pizza for 5-6 minutes until they become tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
Serve and enjoy your air fryer Portobello mushroom pizza!

Notes
If your air fryer doesn't have a preheating option, you can set the temperature to 400°F (204°C) and then let it cook for 4-5 minutes without food. For faster cooking time and accuracy, preheating is highly recommended.
For smaller air fryers like the Ninja Foodi 4-Quart, reduce the cooking temperature by 20°F (10°C) or decrease the cooking time by 1-2 minutes. Smaller air fryers tend to cook faster and hotter due to the heating element being closer to the food.
Avoid washing the mushrooms, as they tend to absorb moisture.
The gills of the mushrooms create a dark stain when cooked. However it's not an issue with this recipe as the toppings will completely cover those spores-producing gills. Optionally, you can remove the gills by scraping them with a spoon.
I used a 6-quart Instant Vortex Plus to test the Air Fryer Portobello Mushroom Recipe. Cooking time and temperature may vary depending on your air fryer and the number of servings you are making. For optimal results, begin with the lower end of the suggested cooking time.
