Ingredients

  • 2 bone-in pork steaks
  • 1 stick cold butter cut into cubes
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning

Instructions

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400ºF (204ºC) for approximately 5 minutes.
  • Season the bone-in pork steaks. Sprinkle Cajun spice evenly over both sides of the bone-in pork steaks, ensuring all nooks and crannies are well seasoned.
  • Arrange the pork in the air fryer basket. Lay the seasoned pork steaks in a single layer in the air fryer, ensuring they're not overcrowded for even air circulation. Gently place half of the cold butter cubes on the pork steaks.
  • Air fry bone-in pork steak at 400ºF (204ºC) for 12 - 15 minutes. Halfway through the cooking time, open the air fryer and flip the steaks using silicone tongs. Place the remaining cold butter cubes on top of the steaks at this point to enhance both flavor and moisture. Continue cooking.
  • Check for doneness. Use a meat thermometer to measure the internal temperature to ensure the pork steaks are perfectly cooked. Aim for an internal temperature of 145ºF (63ºC) for a succulent and safe outcome.
  • After cooking, remove the pork steaks from the air fryer and rest for 5 minutes. This resting time allows the juices to redistribute within the meat, enriching its flavor.
  • Serve your air-fried bone-in pork steaks alongside your preferred sides and savor the delightful textures and flavors.

Notes

  • Before flipping, remove the pork from the air fryer and place foil in the basket to catch the melting butter. This ensures juicy pork and prevents the butter from escaping. Highly recommended but optional.
  • Considering that cooking time varies depending on the meat's thickness (and your air fryer's specs), always check with a meat thermometer if your pork is cooked thoroughly. The pork's safe internal temperature is a minimum of 145ºF (63ºC).
  • If your air fryer doesn't have a preheating option, you can set the temperature to 380°F (193°C) and then let it cook for 4-5 minutes without food.
  • You can skip preheating by adding 2-4 minutes to your cooking time. Increment gradually to prevent burning the bone-in pork steak.
  • I used a 6-quart (air fryer) to test the bone-in pork steak. Cooking time and temperature may vary depending on your air fryer and the number of servings you are making. For optimal results, begin with the lower end of the suggested cooking time.
