Easy Gluten-Free Chicken Nuggets Air Fryer

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breasts cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup gluten-free breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • Avocado oil spray

Instructions

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400ºF (204ºC) for 5 minutes.
  • Prepare the breading station. Mix the gluten-free breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper in a shallow dish. Set it aside. In another shallow dish, crack and beat eggs.
  • Dip the chicken nuggets into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off.
  • Coat the chicken pieces with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere the crumbs to the chicken.
  • Place the breaded chicken nuggets in a single layer in the air fryer basket. You may need to do this in batches, depending on the size of your air fryer.
  • Spray the chicken nuggets with avocado oil to promote browning.
  • Air fry the chicken nuggets at 400ºF (204ºC) for 5 minutes. Then, open the air fryer and flip all the chicken to ensure even cooking.
  • Continue air frying for 5 - 7 minutes or until the chicken nuggets are cooked through and golden brown.
  • Carefully remove the chicken nuggets from the air fryer and let them cool slightly before serving.
  • Serve your air fried gluten-free chicken nuggets with your favorite dipping sauce, and enjoy!

Notes

  • Remember that cooking durations may differ depending on the chicken’s thickness and your air fryer’s size and model. Before serving, ensure it has been cooked to a safe internal temperature of 165ºF (74ºC).
  • If your air fryer doesn't have a preheating option, you can set the temperature to 380°F (193°C) and then let it cook for 4-5 minutes without food. 
  • You can skip preheating by adding 2-4 minutes to your cooking time. Increment gradually to prevent burning the gluten-free chicken nuggets.
  • I used a 6-quart (air fryer) to test the gluten-free chicken nuggets. Cooking time and temperature may vary depending on your air fryer and the number of servings you are making. For optimal results, begin with the lower end of the suggested cooking time.
