How to Air Fry Pillsbury Country Biscuits?
Refer to this recipe as a general guide to air frying country biscuits or similar refrigerated pre-made dough. There are so many ways you can get creative, so let your imagination fly!
We were so excited when we saw how well this type of dough worked in the air fryer, so now the door is open to unlimited possibilities!
If you’re feeling ambitious, you could prepare a cooked and seasoned meat filling, and use that to stuff the biscuits.
For example, you could use ground chicken and cook with minced garlic, onions and the seasoning of your choice. Serve those incredibly flavorful biscuits with a salad and you’ve got dinner!
✦ If you don’t want to stuff the biscuits, and you’d prefer to cook them plain and enjoy with butter, we absolutely won’t judge. Who doesn’t love a hot biscuit with butter??
Step 1: Preheat the air fryer to 275ºF (135ºC) for 3 minutes.
If your air fryer doesn’t have a preheating option, you can set the temperature to 400ºF (204ºC) and then let it cook for 5 minutes.
Step 2: Open the Pillsbury country biscuit can.
🚨 Warning! Prepare for a popping sound!
Follow the instructions on the package to remove the rolls. You’ll need to hit the package with a spoon or on the counter to break it open once the wrapper is removed, so prepare for the “pop”!
Step 3: Add your choice of filling (optional).
While the air fryer is preheating, prepare your stuffed biscuits. Remove the biscuits from the packaging and separate them from each other. If you’re not stuffing your biscuits, simply skip to the next step at this point.
Gently flatten each biscuit to form a 3 ½ inch disk. Add about 2 tsp of filling to each disk, then fold and pinch to form the dough into a ball around the filling. Gently roll in your hands to ensure the seam is closed to prevent the filling from leaking out while cooking.
Step 4: Air fry the Pillsbury Biscuit sprouts for 10-12 minutes at 275ºF (135ºC).
When the air fryer is fully preheated, place the biscuits, seam-side down (if filled), into the air fryer in a single layer, with at least an inch around each biscuit to allow for them to grow while cooking. Cook for 10 minutes or until the tops are golden and crisp.
✦ I used a 4-quart air fryer to bake these stuffed country biscuits. Cooking time and temperature may vary depending on your air fryer. For optimal results, begin with the lower end of the suggested cooking time.
Step 5: Serve & enjoy!
Using tongs, carefully transfer to a plate and serve immediately.
Depending on your filling, your finished biscuits will either be sweet or savory. Here are some serving suggestions for each.
Ideas for Sweet Biscuits:
- Dust with powdered sugar for an elevated presentation and a little extra hit of sweetness.
- Roll each biscuit in melted butter and then in cinnamon sugar for a churro-esque dessert.
- Cut the biscuits in half lengthwise and serve the halves with fresh whipped cream and berries.
Ideas for Savory Biscuits:
- Marinara would be a great dipping sauce, especially for biscuits filled with a small ball of mozzarella (and maybe even a piece of pepperoni).
- Make a quick herb butter with freshly chopped thyme, basil, and chives and serve alongside any plain or cheese-filled biscuits.
- A fresh salad is always a great pairing for a heavier filling, such as the ground meat filling mentioned above, to make a whole meal.
Freezing & Storage
Regardless of the filling, these biscuits should last around 4 days in the refrigerator. To reheat, simply pop them back in a 275ºF (135ºC) air fryer and air fry until heated through, about 5 minutes.
