Air frying leftover pizza slices

The most convenient way to reheat leftover pizza before air fryers was through the microwave. In just a few seconds, your pizza slice would be piping hot.

However, the zapping of the water molecules creates steam and makes it unappetizingly soggy.

Reheating your pizza slice in the air fryer is one of the best ways to bring it back to its former crispy and gooey goodness.

While some may suggest reheating pizza at 350°F to 360°F, we opted for the highest possible temperature as it’s going to be a whole lot quicker.

Reheating at 350°F (177°C) will take 4-6 minutes. Whereas, cooking at the maximum 400°F (204°C) will only take 2-3 minutes.

Please note that pizzas are normally cooked at 800°F to 900°F.

The Best Way to Reheat Pizza?

In this video, we are going to explore several methods of reheating leftover pizza.

Other Methods of Reheating Leftover Pizza

If you don’t have an air fryer at home, here are some other methods of reheating the pizza that has been sitting in your fridge.

Reheating Pizza In A Pan

Reheating leftover pizza in a frying pan

One way to perfectly reheat your pizza is by using a pan.

Bring your pan to high heat, then add your pizza slice.

Next, add a teaspoon of water by drizzling it around the pan, then immediately cover it to trap the steam.

Your pizza will be good as new in just 30 seconds to a minute.

The beauty of this method is that it rehydrates the pizza and doesn’t make the toppings crispy.

Adjust the amount of water depending on the number of pizza slices.

Reheating Pizza In A Traditional Oven

Another way to heat your pizza up is by baking it in your range oven.

Simply preheat it to 375°F (190°C) and cook your pizza for 8-10 minutes. Preheating alone will take 10-15 minutes.

For a couple slices of pizza, the whole process will take 20-30 minutes. Apart from taking too long, it’s a complete waste of energy.

Reheating Pizza In A Microwave

As you can see, this is my least favorite way of reheating leftover pizza, but for the record, it’s one of the quickest methods.

Just pop your pizza slice in the microwave and cook it at maximum power for 15-30 seconds. It’s super quick and convenient, as long as you’re fine with a soggy pizza.

Don’t forget to use a microwave-safe plate. It’s also ideal to use a splatter cover to keep your microwave clean.

Microwaved vs Air Fried Pizza

Right: Microwaved pizza; Left: Air fried pizza

You can clearly see the huge difference between a microwaved pizza slice and an air fried one.

With a microwaved pizza, everything becomes soggy, including the crust.

When you heat your pizza in the microwave, it becomes too wet because the water in it turns into steam.

Is Reheating Pizza in the Air Fryer Worth It?

When it comes to reheating pizza, using an air fryer is one of the best methods available. In fact, I would argue that it’s significantly superior to microwaving pizza or any other approach.

Not only is it more convenient, but if you use an air fryer liner, you won’t even have to worry about any crumbs.
