How to Air Fry Frozen Spring Rolls?

Use this recipe like a general guide for air frying frozen spring rolls. It can apply to all types of spring rolls: vegetable, pork, chicken, beef, Shanghai, Chinese, Thai, etc.

As long as the size of your spring rolls is similar to what we use in this recipe, (about 3 inches long), the cooking time and temperature should be similar.

1. Preheat your air fryer to 380ºF (193ºC) for 5 minutes.

Preheating air fryer to 380°F (193°C)

If your air fryer doesn’t have a preheat mode, you can simply set the temperature to 380ºF (193ºC) and then let it cook for 5 minutes.

Or you can skip this step by adding 2-5 minutes to your cooking time until you air fryer lumpia turns slightly golden brown and crispy.

2. Place the lumpia in the air fryer and lightly brush them with cooking oil.

Brushing spring rolls with cooking oil

When the air fryer is preheated, arrange your frozen spring rolls in a single layer in the basket.

💡Pro Tip: For a slightly amplified crispness and browning, you can brush your frozen spring rolls with cooking oil before air frying.

It isn’t necessary, but we found that it definitely creates a little more browning than you’ll get without the oil.

If you’re trying to keep the calories low, skip the cooking oil; don’t worry, you’re still going to love the air-fried perfection of these rolls.

Air Fried vs Deep Fried Spring Rolls

See below for our comparison of spring rolls: air fried without oil, air fried with oil, and… deep fried!!! (Just for fun.)

Air fried vs deep fried spring rolls
From left to right: 1.) air fried, without brushing with oil; 2. air fried, brushed with oil; 3. Deep fried.

In terms of flavor, texture, and overall appearance, nothing beats a deep-fried spring roll. Who doesn’t love deep-fried goodness?? Now, if only it wasn’t higher in calories… We can dream, can’t we!?

If you bought an air fryer for one of its touted benefits, minimizing the use of oil, then these spring rolls are sure to make you happy. They are super crispy and delicious, with or without the adding coating of cooking oil.

If you don’t mind the few added calories of the cooking oil, you can brush them before air-frying to achieve a slightly more browned exterior.

3. Air fry the spring rolls for 14-16 minutes at 380ºF (193ºC).

Air fry your spring rolls for 14-16 minutes at 380ºF (193ºC), flipping halfway through, until they are crisp and slightly browned on the edges.

📝 Note: I used a 6-quart air fryer for this guide. Cooking time and temperature may vary depending on your air fryer and the number of servings you are making. For optimal results, begin with the lower end of the suggested cooking time.

4. Serve & Enjoy!

Fridge – Depending on the filling of your spring rolls, they can last up to 5 days in the fridge after being cooked.

Reheating – To reheat from cold, simply put the spring rolls back into the air fryer and cook at 350ºF (176ºC) for 6 minutes or until the filling is hot and rolls are crisp and slightly browned.
