We tried to make frozen breakfast burrito a few days ago and decided to compare it with something that’s made from scratch.
Well, I’m not surprised at all: Fresh is way way better!
While you can cut your prep time with a frozen burrito, there’s nothing better than a piping-hot breakfast.
All that’s left is a freshly-brewed cup of coffee!
✦ Fun fact: In Canada, we call this dish a Farmer’s Breakfast Wrap. You can order it at Tim Hortons along with your drink of choice.

Breakfast Wrap Air Fryer Recipe Ingredients
✦ You can find the exact measurements of the recipe ingredients and customize the serving size in the recipe card after the detailed step-by-step instructions section.
- Tortilla wrap
- Mozzarella cheese slices
- Bacon
- Eggs
- Tater tots or hashbrowns
- Salt
- Pepper
- Cooking oil
Bacon
Thick-cut bacon is the best option for the Air Fryer Breakfast Burrito recipe. You’ll get more “bacon” in one bite than a thin one. Or you can just add one or two more strips of bacon.
If you want, you can also substitute bacon with ham or sausage.
Cheese
Mozzarella cheese is an excellent choice for a breakfast burrito as you get that stringy goodness when you bite into it. But it’s completely optional.
Potato
We used tater tots in this recipe, but hash browns will work just fine.

How Cook Breakfast Burrito in an Air Fryer?
This fully loaded breakfast meal is super easy to make. It will only take you 25 minutes from cooking the fillings and air frying the wrap.
Step 1: Preheat your Air Fryer to 400ºF (204ºC) for 5 minutes.
You can skip preheating by adding 2-5 minutes to your cooking time. To prevent the tater tots and hash brown from overcooking, check it every 1-2 minutes. Continue air frying until golden brown.
Step 2: Air fry your tater tots/hash browns.
🚨 Important: Wear oven mitts or any heat resistant gloves when working with metal air fryer accessories.
Place the tater tots laid flat in your air fryer. If you have a second-layer rack, you can use it to cook tater tots and bacon simultaneously. Air fry for 8 – 10 minutes at 350ºF (177ºC) until golden brown.
After cooking, remove the tater tots/hash browns from the air fryer and let them rest on a separate plate. Don’t remove the bacon yet.
💡 Pro Tip: Using hashbrowns for this Breakfast Wrap Air Fryer recipe will also work.
Step 3: Air fry the bacon.
After taking out the tater tots, flip the bacon strips. Bring the heat up to 400°F and cook the bacon for 2-3 more minutes until golden brown.
💡 Pro Tip: Cut the bacon into smaller pieces (once cool to the touch). Doing so will make sure that every bite will contain that lovely bacon.
You see, whenever there’s bacon in a burger or a burrito, I accidentally pull the whole thing out, which is simply annoying. Hence, slicing it into smaller pieces will solve this silly problem. However, it’s completely optional.
Step 4: Prepare scrambled eggs.
Making scrambled eggs is pretty straightforward.
First, crack 3 eggs into a large mixing bowl, then beat them lightly.
Then, get a medium-sized non-stick pan and bring it to medium-high heat. Once you’ve added the eggs, bring the heat up. Mix it with a wooden or rubber spatula for 5 – 6 minutes. Keep stirring until the eggs are almost fully cooked.
After that, season it with pepper and salt to taste.
You can also add mozzarella cheese at this point if you want.
Continue mixing for 1 – 2 minutes until the eggs are fully cooked, and the seasonings have been thoroughly incorporated.
Finally, turn the heat off and transfer the cooked scrambled eggs onto a plate.
The next order of business is to assemble the breakfast burrito.
Step 5: How to wrap breakfast burrito.
Here’s a good wrapping technique that I learned from my previous fast food job.
Teaser: It’s super easy!
In a nutshell, here’s what you need to do:
- Lay your tortilla wrapper on a flat surface.
- Then add your fillings in this order: cheese, scrambled eggs, bacon, and tater tots.
- Next, fold the bottom, right, and left flap of the tortilla wrap towards the center. You can keep one side open if you want.
- Lastly, roll it towards the top end of the tortilla while tucking the sides.
See? It’s a piece of cake!
Step 6: Air fry breakfast burrito or breakfast wrap at 400ºF (204ºC)for 5 – 10 minutes.
💡 Pro Tip: The breakfast wrap is not sealed, make sure the flap is facing down when you place it in the air fryer.
Depending on the size of your air fryer, you can cook 2 – 3 burritos in one batch. We have a bigger model than can handle 3 burritos.
🚨 Important: I highly suggest using rubber-tip tongs when placing your burritos in the air fryer basket. It might still be hot after cooking tater tots and bacon.
Then, set your cooking temperature to 400ºF (204ºC), and air fry it for 5 – 6 minutes. However, we’re not done yet. You have to flip it and cook it for 3-5 more minutes.
We’re making sure that both sides are nicely golden brown.
✦ Pro Tip: For extra crunch, continue air frying for 2-3 more minutes.
7. Serve and enjoy!
And that’s how you make an air fryer breakfast wrap from scratch!
Now, it’s time to make a hot drink, be it coffee, hot chocolate, tea, or french vanilla.
What Goes Well with Breakfast Wraps?
While the breakfast burrito is tasty, there’s no rule that you can’t dip it in a sauce.
Here are a few sauces that complement this dish:
- Hot sauce
- Salsa (pico de gallo in particular)
- Or even ketchup since it’s a perfect partner for eggs
Freezing & Storage
💡 Pro Tip: Don’t add fresh tomatoes or any fresh produce if you plan on freezing your burritos. It will ruin the texture and taste of your burrito.
❄️ Freezing: When freezing the breakfast burrito, wrap them in foil or parchment paper. They can last in the freezer for 3 – 4 months.
🌯 Fridge: If you’re wondering, your burrito will remain fresh in the fridge for 3 to 4 days. This is also why it’s one of the best meal preps. It’s easy to make and store.
🔥 Reheating: To reheat it, you can refer to this air fryer frozen breakfast burrito recipe.

Notes
- If your air fryer doesn’t have a preheat option, you can simply set the temperature to 400ºF (204ºC) and then let it air fry for 5 minutes.
- You can skip preheating by adding 2-5 minutes to your cooking time. Then check every 1-2 minutes to prevent your dish from getting burnt.
- To save time, you can skip the tater tots or hash brown. Although it adds a few minutes to the cooking time, it gives the air fryer breakfast burrito an extra crunch and flavor.
- If your air fryer comes with a layered basket accessory, you can cook the bacon and hash browns/tater tots simultaneously. Place the potato on top and the bacon at the bottom.
- Hash browns/tater tots will cook faster. After taking out the tater tots/hash browns, dial the heat to 400 °F and leave the bacon cooking for 2-4 more minutes or until it’s fully cooked.
- Once cool to the touch, chop the bacon into smaller chunks (optional). Doing so will make sure that every bite will contain that lovely bacon.
- As an alternative, you can also cut the bacon in half. Or better yet, you can add two strips instead of one.
- You can skip the cheese on your scrambled eggs. We’ll add cheese slices when assembling the burrito anyway.
- To prevent the breakfast wrap from opening, ensure the flap is facing down when you place it in the air fryer.
- For safety reasons, you need a pair of tongs, oven mitts, or any heat-resistant hand covering when making this recipe.
- If you want your air fryer breakfast burrito to be extra crunchy, cook it for 2-3 more minutes.
- You can elevate this dish by using avocado instead of eggs or adding fresh tomato slices. Or better yet, you could turn it into a BLT (Bacon-Lettuce-Tomato) wrap.
- I used a 6-quart air fryer to make this recipe. Cooking time may vary depending on your air fryer and the number of servings you are making. For optimal results, begin with the lower end of the suggested cooking time. Continue air frying until you achieve your desired finish.
