How to Cook Parmesan Crusted Pork Chops in an Air Fryer?

Let’s jump into the exciting part—perfecting those tantalizing boneless pork chops!

Step 1: Set up the breading station.

Preparation is the secret ingredient to culinary success, and we’re about to set the stage for flavor magic.

Now, in three separate bowls or shallow dishes, add or combine the following ingredients:

  1. On the first dish, whisk together flour and cornstarch. 
  2. Then, beat the eggs in the second bowl.
  3. Finally, create a flavorful mixture by combining grated Parmesan cheese, panko breadcrumbs, dried parsley, garlic powder, and paprika in a third bowl.

Step 2: Preheat your air fryer to 400ºF (204ºC).

If your air fryer doesn’t have a preheating option, set your desired temperature then let it cook for 5 minutes without food.

🚨 Important: Reduce the cooking temperature to 380°F (193°C) if you’re using a 4-quart air fryer or smaller. They are hotter due to the heating element being closer to the food.

Step 3: Season and bread the pork chops.

Pat your pork chops dry before seasoning them. 

This step is essential for two reasons: first, it enhances the adherence of the spices, allowing them to fully embrace the meat’s surface. Second, this ensures that the breading achieves a delightful crispiness.

Then, season both sides of the pork chops with salt and pepper.

Now, bread the pork chops:

  1. Place each pork chop in the flour-cornstarch mixture. Press gently to ensure the mixture covers the chop evenly. Shake the chop gently to remove any excess flour. 
  2. Afterward, dip the floured pork chops into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off. This creates a binding layer that helps the subsequent coating adhere to the meat.
  3. Next, coat the pork chops with the Parmesan-breadcrumb mixture. Press down to ensure the mixture adheres well to the chop. 

Step 4: Air fry parmesan crusted pork chops for 10 – 12 minutes at 400ºF (204ºC).

Arrange your coated pork chops in the air fryer, ensuring they are placed in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding to ensure that each chop receives adequate airflow for consistent cooking.

Then, spray the pork with avocado oil for that extra crunch factor, and make sure there are no dry spots. This extra touch enhances the crunch factor, making every bite a textural delight.


Air fry the pork chops with parmesan cheese at 400ºF (204ºC) for 5 – 6 minutes. Flip the pork using silicone tongs and spray the other side with more avocado oil. Cook for another 5 – 6 minutes.

Note: Given the differing thickness of the meat and your air fryer’s specifications, ensure thorough cooking using a meat thermometer. The pork should reach a safe internal temperature of at least 145ºF (63ºC).

Step 5: Serve and Enjoy!

Freezing: Can’t finish all those delectable pork chops in one go? No worries! Simply wrap the air fried pork chops tightly in plastic wrap, then place them in an airtight container. They’ll stay delicious for up to 2 months. To reheat, thaw them in the fridge overnight. Then, pop them back into the air fryer at 350ºF (177ºC) for 6 – 10 minutes or until warmed through.

Fridge: If you’ve got leftovers, store them in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, use your air fryer again for a quick and easy way to revive that crispy crust. Reheat at 350ºF (177ºC) for 6 – 10 minutes or until warmed through.

  • Check for doneness. To ensure the pork chops are fully cooked, use an instant-read thermometer. The internal temperature should reach 145ºF (63ºC) for juicy and tender results.
  • Once the pork chops are done, remove them from the air fryer and rest for 3 – 5 minutes.
  • Serve and enjoy your air-fried parmesan crusted pork chops. Pair it with your preferred sides, whether garlic mashed potatoes, coleslaw, or buttery corn on the cob.


  • Considering that cooking time varies depending on the meat’s thickness (and your air fryer’s specs), always check with a meat thermometer if your pork is cooked thoroughly. The pork’s safe internal temperature is a minimum of 145ºF (63ºC).
  • You can remove the pork from the air fryer at 140ºF (60ºC). The resting time will allow its internal temperature to rise, called carryover cooking. Doing so will also yield the juiciest results.
  • If your air fryer doesn’t have a preheating option, you can set the temperature to 380°F (193°C) and then let it cook for 4-5 minutes without food. 
  • You can skip preheating by adding 2-4 minutes to your cooking time. Increment gradually to prevent burning the parmesan crusted pork chops.
  • I used a 6-quart (air fryer) to test the parmesan crusted pork chops. Cooking time and temperature may vary depending on your air fryer and the number of servings you are making. For optimal results, begin with the lower end of the suggested cooking time.
