We spared no expense in our pursuit of perfection, procuring the finest scallops available in our area. We knew that frozen tiny scallops simply wouldn’t do—they’re just too petite to be wrapped in glorious bacon.
Thus, we invested in a pound of the most exquisite scallops, priced at $45 USD. Each of these delectable morsels commands a hefty price tag of approximately $3, surpassing even a pound of aged steak.
But trust us when we say that the taste is worth every penny! The beauty of this recipe lies not only in its tantalizing flavors but also in its ease and efficiency.
Once you’ve expertly wrapped the scallops in bacon, the air fryer does the rest of the work, requiring just 6-8 minutes of cooking time.
We understand that scallops aren’t always available at the local grocery store. Convenience is key, and you can easily find frozen scallops at popular retailers such as Costco, Trader Joe’s, and other reputable brands.
✦ Important! Look for scallops that are large enough to be wrapped in bacon!

How to Cook Bacon Wrapped Scallops in the Air Fryer?
Making these air fryer bacon-wrapped scallops is easy and doesn’t take more than 15 minutes, now that’s convenient gourmet!
Step 1: Get your scallops ready.
If using frozen scallops, thaw them in the refrigerator overnight or in a closed package submerged in cold water, changing the water every 30 minutes until the scallops are defrosted.
If the scallops (fresh or thawed) still have the side muscle attached, gently remove it before proceeding. Pat all the scallops dry with a paper towel.
Step 2: Prepare the basting sauce.
In a small bowl with a baby whisk (optional but highly recommended 😉), combine the melted butter, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Set aside.
Step 3: Preheat your air fryer to 400ºF (204ºC).
If your air fryer doesn’t have a preheating option, you can set the temperature to 400ºF (204ºC) and then let it cook for 5 minutes without food.
Preheating your air fryer before cooking bacon-wrapped scallops is highly recommended for more tender and juicy results, as well as to ensure a more accurate cooking time.
Step 4: Slice bacon in half.
Carefully cut the bacon strips in half, creating 6 short strips of bacon.
Step 5: Wrap the scallops with the halved bacon strips.
Wrap each scallop in a piece of bacon and secure with a toothpick.
Step 6: Baste and air fry bacon-wrapped scallops for 4 minutes.
When the air fryer is preheated, add the bacon-wrapped scallops and generously brush the tops with the garlic butter. Air fry for 2 minutes before basting again, then continue air frying for another 2 minutes.
Step 7: Flip, baste again, and air fry bacon-wrapped scallops for another 3-4 minutes.
Flip the scallops, baste one last time with the garlic butter, then air fry for an additional 3-4 minutes or until the bacon is crisp and the scallops are cooked.
✦ I used a 6-quart air fryer to test this recipe. Cooking time and temperature may vary depending on your air fryer and the number of servings you are making. For optimal results, begin with the lower end of the suggested cooking time.
Step 8: Treat yourself to a fancy air fried bacon wrapped scallops.
