If your air fryer doesn’t have a preheating option, set your desired temperature then let it cook for 5 minutes without food.

Step 2: Grease your mold.

To prevent the eggs from sticking to the ramekin bowl or silicone mold, spray a thin layer of neutral cooking oil into each container.

Step 3: Add hot water to your mold.

Adding oil and hot water to ramekin bowls

Boil water and fill your ramekin or silicone molds halfway with 4 tablespoons of hot water.

Be cautious and, if possible, transfer the hot water to a Pyrex cup first. Then, use a spoon to add the hot water into the cooking vessels.

Step 4: Crack an egg into each container.

Carefully transfer the greased ramekin bowl with hot water to the air fryer basket. Then, crack an egg into each bowl.

For safety reasons, if you’re using a silicone mold, place them in the preheated air fryer before filling them up with hot water.

💡 Pro Tip: It would be ideal for the raw eggs to be slightly covered with water. Add more hot water if necessary.

Step 5: Air fry poached eggs for 6-8 minutes.

Notes

  • For 4-quart air fryers and smaller, reduce the cooking temperature to 360°F (182°C). They generate more heat because of the heating element’s proximity to the food.
  • If your air fryer doesn’t have a preheating option, set your desired temperature and then let it cook for 4-5 minutes without food.
  • I used a 6-quart Instant Pot Vortex Plus to test air frying poached eggs. Cooking time and temperature may vary depending on your air fryer and the number of servings you are making. For optimal results, begin with the lower end of the suggested cooking time.
  • We’re using hot water to reduce the cooking time. The longer the egg stays in the air fryer, the firmer your egg yolks will become.
  • On that note, avoid leaving your poached eggs in the air fryer beyond the suggested cooking time.
