How to Cook Mini Quiche in the Air Fryer?

Air frying mini quiche will take only 15 minutes or less. Follow these seven simple steps for hassle-free cooking.

Step 1: Preheat the air fryer at 360°F (182°C).

Preating Instant Pot Vortex Plus Air Fryer to 360°F (182°C).

If your air fryer doesn’t have a preheating option, set your desired temperature then let it cook for 5 minutes without food.

🚨 Important: Reduce the cooking temperature to 340°F (171°C) if you’re using a 4-quart air fryer or smaller. They are hotter due to the heating element being closer to the food.

Step 2: Prepare the fillings.

Filling for mini quiche recipe: shredded cheddar, sliced ham, green onion

Dice the ham into smaller pieces, chop the green onions, and get the shredded cheese ready.

💡 Pro Tip: When substituting other types of protein, ensure that they are already cooked.

Step 3: Whisk the eggs along with other ingredients.

Whisk the eggs, milk, salt, and ground pepper. To make pouring easier, you might want to use a measuring cup with a lid.

Step 4: Air fry frozen pastry shells for 3-5 minutes.

Doing this step will help ensure that the egg tarts are cooked thoroughly.

Step 5: Add the fillings.

Pouring egg mixture to cooked pastry shells

Begin by adding the solid ingredients, and then carefully pour the egg mixture into each partially cooked pastry shell.

Step 6: Air fry mini quiche for 6-8 minutes.

Air fry the mini quiches for 6-8 minutes, or until the egg filling puffs up, and the crust edges turn golden brown.

To ensure thorough cooking, perform the toothpick test. Carefully insert the toothpick into the center of the mini quiche. If it comes out clean, with no wet egg mixture clinging to it, your quiche is likely fully cooked.

Step 7: Serve and enjoy your air fried mini quiches!

Let the mini quiche tarts sit for 3-5 minutes before serving.

They’re a delightful choice for appetizers, brunch, or breakfast and are also well-suited for picnics, dinner parties, and various occasions.

The great thing about making quiche is that there are no absolute rules. You can experiment with your favorite omelette recipe. Mine is bacon and scallion, and here are ten more flavors to choose from.

Freezing & Storage

Freezer: If frozen properly, mini quiches can last for up to 3 months. Once they have cooled completely, place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Freeze them in the refrigerator. Once frozen, transfer them to a zip-top bag or any airtight freezer friendly container.

Fridge: You can refrigerate any leftover mini quiches for 3-4 days. Make sure to check for spoilage before reheating.

To reheat mini quiche, first preheat your air fryer to 360°F (182°C). Once it’s preheated, cook them for 3-4 minutes. If cooking from frozen, you need to air fry them for 8-10 minutes.

Notes

  • For 4-quart air fryers and smaller, reduce the cooking temperature to 340°F (171°C). They generate more heat because of the heating element’s proximity to the food.
  • If your air fryer doesn’t have a preheating option, set your desired temperature then let it cook for 4-5 minutes without food.
  • Only use precooked meat for the filling. At 6-8 minutes of cooking time, we’re primarily ensuring that the eggs are cooked, so there wouldn’t be enough time to cook raw meat.
  • I used a 6-quart Instant Pot Vortex Plus to test the mini quiche air fryer recipe. Cooking time and temperature may vary depending on your air fryer and the number of servings you are making. For optimal results, begin with the lower end of the suggested cooking time.
